A Countryside Escape at The Elvetham Hotel, Hampshire
Nestled in the Hampshire countryside, The Elvetham is one of those places that encourages you to slow down from the moment you arrive. Surrounded by beautifully maintained gardens and historic architecture, it offers a peaceful escape that's rich in character while remaining warm and welcoming.
During our stay, we checked into the charming Seymour Suite, a beautifully designed room with soft pink interiors, elegant furnishings and plenty of thoughtful details. It perfectly balanced the hotel's historic character with a fresh, feminine feel, making it an inspiring space to unwind and enjoy a restful stay.
One of my favourite parts of the stay was simply exploring the estate. Whether wandering through the gardens, admiring the architecture or finding quiet corners to sit and take in the surroundings, there was a real sense of calm throughout the grounds. It's the kind of place where you naturally find yourself slowing down and appreciating the little details.
We were also able to enjoy a picnic on the estate, which made for such a lovely way to spend the afternoon. Set amongst the beautiful grounds, it felt like a simple but memorable experience and offered a different way to enjoy everything the hotel has to offer.
Dinner at the Sylvanus Restaurant was another highlight, with beautifully presented dishes served in an elegant setting that complements the character of the house. The following morning, breakfast provided the perfect start to another relaxed day before taking one final stroll around the gardens.
One thing I hadn't realised before visiting is that The Elvetham isn't just for overnight guests. You're welcome to visit even if you're not staying at the hotel, whether that's for lunch, dinner, afternoon tea, a picnic on the estate or simply to enjoy the beautiful surroundings. I think many people assume country house hotels are exclusively for residents, so it was lovely to discover that the grounds and dining experiences can be enjoyed by everyone.
Whether you're planning a weekend getaway, celebrating a special occasion or simply looking for somewhere to enjoy a leisurely lunch surrounded by beautiful gardens, The Elvetham is well worth adding to your list.
