A Riverside Escape: My Stay at The Swan at Streatley (Coppa Club)

Tucked into the charming village of Streatley-on-Thames, The Swan at Streatley is one of those rare countryside gems where everything — from the food to the views — feels effortlessly calming. I recently stayed for one night, and even in such a short time, it was exactly the riverside retreat I needed.

Arrival & Ambience

From the moment I arrived, the atmosphere felt warm and inviting. The hotel blends modern design with gentle countryside charm, and the peaceful riverside location adds an immediate sense of relaxation. Even from inside the building, the window views of the Thames set the tone for a calm and refreshing stay.

The Room: Cosy Vibes with Ample Space

My room had that ideal mix of cosy warmth and spacious comfort. It felt instantly relaxing — soft lighting, calming décor, and plenty of room to settle in and make yourself comfortable. One of the highlights was the lovely view out onto the river — waking up to the calm water and peaceful surroundings made the stay feel even more special. It was the kind of space where you can unwind the moment you walk in and feel completely at ease.

Delicious Food at Coppa Club

Now the food… truly delicious.

I had:

  • Burrata and seared prawns to start

  • Crab linguine and fishcakes for my main dishes

For dessert, I couldn’t resist trying two:

  • TIRAMI-CHOU — warm chocolate sauce, chocolate crunch

  • WINTER MESS (V) — muddled berries, whipped vanilla cream, orange, mint

Both were incredibly satisfying and beautifully presented, with the Tirami-Chou being especially indulgent. Combined with the relaxing riverside atmosphere, the entire meal felt memorable and full of flavour.

Exploring Streatley

One of the best parts of staying at The Swan is how lovely the surrounding area is. The town itself is quaint and peaceful, and there are plenty of beautiful walking routes right on the doorstep. A walk along the Thames is a must — calming, scenic, and a great way to soak up the area’s charm.

Why I Loved It

  • Peaceful riverside location

  • Cosy, spacious room with a beautiful river view

  • Delicious dishes and desserts at Coppa Club

  • A charming town with beautiful walks

  • A calm, friendly atmosphere throughout

Even with just a one-night stay, The Swan at Streatley left me feeling refreshed and already wanting to return for a longer visit.
