Hacienda Bambusa: A Serene Retreat in Colombia’s Coffee Heartland

Our stay at Hacienda Bambusa was nothing short of magical. From the warm welcome with fresh juice and cool towels to the attentive service throughout, every moment reflected the dedication and authenticity that make this hacienda so unique.

The property feels like stepping into a storybook: wooden green doors, bird-inspired room names, handcrafted details, and every corner designed with true Colombian charm. It is no surprise that the producers of Disney’s Encanto stayed here for inspiration. For our family and especially for our children it felt like living inside the Madrigal family’s house, where every space holds its own kind of Encanto.

Waking up to the sound of birdsong while enjoying freshly brewed coffee and a good book became one of my favorite rituals. Our children loved exploring the gardens, riding bikes among coffee and lemon trees, and watching hummingbirds visit our suite.

Meals were another highlight — beautifully prepared, locally inspired, and served with thoughtful touches such as centerpieces of coffee beans and regional flowers. Dining outdoors, surrounded by torches and candlelight, felt like a scene from a dream.

What makes Hacienda Bambusa unforgettable is not only its natural beauty and sense of Encanto, but also the genuine warmth of its people. As my husband said when we left: “the only bad thing about Hacienda Bambusa is that we have to leave.”
